From Aceh İstanbul Orphanage to university
Some of the orphan girls who clung to life at İstanbul Orphanage established by IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation following a tsunami disaster in Aceh in 2004 have become university students.
SouthAsia 05.09.2013

Twelve more orphan girls who began to live at IHH’s orphanage complex after losing their parents in the tsunami disaster have become students at universities in Indonesia, Malaysia and Turkey and entered the departments they wished to study.

Being successful in the examinations they have taken, the orphan girls are now having the excitement of leaving the orphanage as university students where they entered as primary school students years ago.
The İstanbul Orphanage in Aceh not only accommodates tsunami victims but also 106 other girls who were orphaned or lost their families. Thirty other girls staying at the orphanage already became university students.

The Aceh girls who prepare for life thanks to support from Turkish charity givers aim to build their future and contribute to the development of their country with the university education they will receive. The list of the names and universities of the 12 orphan girls:
