A total of 123 academics working in various fields, including engineering, economics, history, sociology, health sciences, and psychological counselling and guidance, attended the conference. A total of 100 papers from various disciplines were presented at the event.

The conference's primary objective was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience through a multidisciplinary approach, foster international academic collaborations, and present concrete, feasible solutions that could benefit Syria's future.

‘We must rebuild not only buildings, but people as well.’

In his statement, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yaşar Kahraman, Chair of the Conference Organising Committee and Member of the Board of Trustees of the International University of Damascus, emphasised that development is only possible through the sharing of scientific knowledge.

Noting that Syria’s reconstruction cannot be limited to a single area, Kahraman said: ‘Syria’s reconstruction does not merely mean building roads, bridges and buildings. We must take into account the devastating effects that years of war and political processes have had on society. Different disciplines need to think and act collectively.”
