IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has included five new countries and regions into the list of countries and regions where the foundation supports orphans through its Sponsor Family System. Orphans in Georgia, Crimea, Syria and Presheva will from now on be supported via the IHH’s Sponsor Family System.
Every child in the world loses one of their parents or both in every 2.2 minutes due to wars, natural disasters, diseases, hunger or similar reasons. The orphan population in the world, which is estimated to be 200 million, grows every day at a very high speed. These children who are unprotected against the challenges caused by their living circumstances need reliable hands which they can trust to be able to cling to life.
IHH, which has been carrying out orphan relief activities since the day of its establishment, has reached out to 27, 100 orphans across 41 countries and regions thanks to its Sponsor Family Project which was launched in 2007.
Most recently, the foundation, which announced that it included the orphans in Syria into its Sponsor Family Project, has completed the necessary preparations to include other orphans in Georgia, Presheva, Sanjak and Crimea in this project. So, the number of countries and regions where the IHH supports orphans through its Sponsor Family System has increased to 41.

With its Sponsor Family Project, the IHH units Turkish charity givers with orphans all across the world. The orphans are supported until they grow up and are able to stand on their own two feet. Orphans’ needs for education, healthcare, accommodation, food and clothing are met by the contributions of the sponsor families. It is enough to be sponsor family by donating €35 per month.
