Orphans express their dreams with colors
Results of a painting competition organized by the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation among Gazan orphans have been revealed.
Turkey 22.12.2010

The jury panel which included prominent figures such as Hasan Aycın, Mevlana İdris, Dağıstan Çetinkaya, Rabia Bozkurt, Çiğdem Tavkul and Turan Dertli, had difficulty in selecting the best paintings because they were all very impressive.

A total of 500 orphans who are aged between six and 15 joined the competition which ran from 15 November to 30 November.

The orphans competed in three categories which are named: “My World in My Dream, My Right to Live and I Have a Dream.”

Orphans who live under difficult circumstances in Gaza due to Israeli blockade expressed their rights and the world they want to live in with colors. In the paintings, it is possible to see their perspective of life as well as the realities of their lives.

The jury selected the best of the pictures in each age category. Eight-year-old Duha Vail, 14-year-old Muhammed Beşir and 15-year-old Lina Atıf Mesad became winners in separate categories. The paintings of the winners will be put on display at the Mavi Marmara ship on the second anniversary of Israeli attacks on Gaza. Various prizes will also be awarded to the winners at an upcoming ceremony.
