IHH and Ayder hold mass circumcision ceremony in Georgia
Aid workers from the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation and Konya Ayder offered medical screenings and free circumcisions to 350 boys in Georgia’s Duisi and Karacala villages.
Georgia, Caucasus 14.06.2011

For three days, a 20-member aid team, which went to Duisi and Karacala regions in Georgia, offered free circumcision to 350 boys from the local families and Chechen refugees. Four doctors and seven medics, who are from the International Association of Physicians, first offered medical screenings to the boys and then circumcised them. Aid workers form Konya Ayder and the IHH did not leave the children alone during the circumcision ceremony and entertained the children by giving them gifts they brought from Turkey.

“Just as we extend a helping hand to the financially disadvantaged families and orphans in Konya, we also produce projects to help the orphans in far geographies. The circumcision project in Georgia is a part of these efforts. Thanks to support from charity givers in Konya, we aim to undertake the restoration and maintenance of five mosques here soon. We expect donations from benefactors in Konya to this effect,” said Yasin Yılmaz, deputy chairman of Konya Ayder.
