IHH Distributes Soup to Earthquake Victims
Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Istanbul, IHH distributed hot soup to 2,000 people who were unable to return to their homes.

Yesterday at noon, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Marmara Sea. The earthquake affected Istanbul and surrounding provinces. Due to the quake, many residents couldn’t return to their homes and set up temporary camps in parks, gardens, and mosque courtyards despite the cold weather. The IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation provided hot soup to 2,000 people unable to go home.

IHH Search and Rescue Teams on watch 
Following the earthquake, IHH Search and Rescue teams remained on watch throughout the night across Türkiye. In total, 39 IHH Search and Rescue teams supported the earthquake watch, including 1 heavy, 7 medium, and 31 light teams. These teams consisted of 1,543 search and rescue personnel. In Istanbul alone, 214 volunteer search and rescue personnel with 60 vehicles were deployed. Teams in Istanbul responded to calls in Arnavutköy, Sefaköy, Avcılar, Küçükçekmece, and Fatih districts, conducting marking and evacuation operations.

The foundation continues its relief efforts for citizens affected by the earthquake.

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has initiated emergency aid efforts following two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 6.4 in magnitude that struck Myanmar which also affected neighboring Thailand. We distributed hot meals to 800 people in Thailand; we also provide water and dry food assistance to those affected in Myanmar.
