IHH rushes second load of humanitarian aid to Gaza
The IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, which was the first aid agency to enter the Gaza Strip after latest Israeli air strikes, delivered the second convoy of aid to the region. IHH officials distrib

Gazan hospitals can only offer preliminary intervention to the wounded due to inadequacy of fuel, electricity, medication and medical equipment.

The wounded Palestinians are then dispatched to Cairo hospitals if Egypt allows crossing through Rafah border gate.

The expiration of medical materials and medication caused death of a number of wounded Palestinians in Gazan hospitals. The medical equipment was handed to the Palestinian Health Ministry by the IHH to help resume medical operations in Gaza.

The Health Ministry officials thanked charitable people of Turkey and the IHH for sending medical aid.

A group of Turkish medics headed by Dr. Şaban Çoşkun are examining the people wounded in Israeli strikes.

Osman Atalay, member of the IHH executive board, said "Egyptian security officials stopped us and checked aid convoy several times until we reached Gaza border. The region remains tense. The closure of the Rafah border gate seems to be the most serious problem. Hundreds of wounded people are waiting to undergo treatment, because Egypt opens Rafah crossing only several times a day. Only seriously-wounded people and a number of trucks carrying humanitarian aid are allowed to cross the border. Although no official data has been released about the number of wounded Gazan being treated in Egyptian hospitals, we estimate the number to be about 60."

"We visited Arish Hospital, an hour away from Gaza City. One of the wounded died while we were there. Israel is continuing bombing the border with Egypt. Three rockets hit border area today. Gaza city is given electricity one hour a day. There is no fuel to power generators. Water, medication and foodstuff are available in limited quantity. If Egypt opens border crossing, Gaza could be provided with necessary humanitarian supplies," IHH Vice President Ahmet Sarıkurt said.

The IHH is planning to send a cargo plane carrying medication, canned fish, sugar, diaper, powdered milk, etc. to Egypt to be delivered to Gaza.
