IHH deputy Chairman Murat Kavakdan said the IHH sent the first truck to İzmir on Saturday and is sending the second truck to the city today [Monday].

Noting that the IHH will send humanitarian aid that fills five trucks, Kavakdan said: “The aid supplies carried by the trucks will be sent to Libya by a cargo ship we have rented. The aid supplies mostly include medicine and dry legumes.”

Stressing that the Libyan public is going through difficult says, Kavakdan said: “The Libyan public is undergoing a very difficult process. The civilian public is cornered between two fires. There is Gaddafi forces on the one side and there are coalition forces on the other side. Hundreds of people have lost their lives in the aerial strikes of the coalition forces. There are claims about thousands of injured people. A two-member IHH team which is currently in Benghazi was also affected by the attacks. There is currently a five-member IHH team in Libya whose on member is a doctor. There is also a two-member team between Libya and Tunisia. They organize relief efforts for the refugees at the border. Our humanitarian relief efforts continue at full speed. Our teams are trying to help the injured. We are trying to bring the injured to Turkey.”

Kavakdan said the IHH, which launched emergency aid campaign for Libya, expects donations from charity givers.
