IHH reached out to those suffering from the Nepal earthquake in less than 24 hours upon occurance. While one team assisted with search and rescue operations the other distributed shelter and emergency food and hygine packages.

Nepal is face to face with one of the largest natural disasters. IHH speeded up their relif aid efforts as teams continued search and rescue operations while the other distributed shelter and emergency food and hygine packages.

It is reported that 6 thousnad people have died in Nepal after the earthquack while more than 10 thousand are wounded. As it is very difficult to go to remote villages, many people are still desperatly waiting for help to reach them.Because of the continuing strong aftershocks, the demolition risk of damaged building continues to make many people nervous. For this reason, people are leaving big cities including capital Kathmandu, and opting to reach rural areas. However, this situation is causing serious disruption in transportation. Bus queues in some areas reach up to 5 kilometers.

IHH reached out to those suffering from the Nepal earthquack in less than 24 hours upon occurance. While one team assisted with search and rescue operations the other distributed shelter and emergency food and hygine packages. Within this scope, 3 thousand people residing in capital Lalitpur in Kathmandu recieved rice, soybeans and a local food called dal. They also provided 3 tons of food packages to a village called Gorka Deragaun where no rescue teams could reach till now. In addition, hygine packages, plankets and housing assitance likecanvases are being distributed to many regions.

IHH Emergency Aid Coordinator Erhan Celik stated that food, shelter and hygine packages are all necesities in the region. While expressing that there is extremly limited local supplies, Celik said that "we saw that the state cannot carry out seach and rescue operations. Besides the military, no one is helping. However they too are assisting with poor efforts, they do not have a professional team. We are working hard with our team to meet these needs."
