It is one of the biggest dreams of every Muslim to go for umrah or pilgrimage to the holy Mecca; however, many people who stay at nursing homes are not able to do so due to financial difficulties although they want it so much. IHH took action to make the dreams of these people possible.

The names of the 12 people who will perform umrah have been set by the İstanbul Governor’s Office. An informative meeting was held at the IHH headquarters for the 12 people who will go for umrah. Governor Mutlu’s wife Gül and IHH executive board member Gülden Sönmez, Manager of Bahçelievler Nursing Home Emel Alanyalıoğlu and İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Darülaceze, a homeless shelter for those without families, Manager İsrafil Aydın attended the meeting.

The attendants of the meeting were informed about the rituals of the umrah, which include performing a tawaf, performing a sa'i, cutting a piece of hair and going out of ihram. The old people were also informed about the issues they should pay attention while on travel.

The attendants of the meeting offered their thanks to Mutlu and the IHH for making such an organization and not leaving them alone.

The old people who were very excited during the meeting sometimes had difficulty in holding their tears back. Completing all their preparations, the 12 old people were seen off at the Atatürk Airport early on Thursday for umrah.
