IHH provides psychological support to orphans and their families suffering the traumatic effects of the war going on in Syria.
The after effects of traumatic experiences of war are observed in children such as continuous aggression, bursts of anger, swearing, breaking and tearing things down, running away, refusing to take responsibilities, missing classes and activities, violating the rules, bedwetting, depression, introversion, incompatibility, crying fit.
Positive improvement was observed in the children after the programs and group therapies that were applied and strictly followed up in a trauma center set up by IHH in Hatay’s Reyhanlı town.
Moreover trips, fun activities, movie nights, grand iftars and sahur get-togethers were organized by IHH. Thus the children got the chance to learn about moral values and have fun while they had elder brothers and sisters as a role model. Mothers of orphans were offered classes in child psychology and education so that they can build healthier communication with their children and be well-informed about how to deal with them.
