IHH is providing daily hot meals to 120,000 Syrians who have sought refuge across the Turkish border and are struggling to survive in makeshift tents – the situation has become dire with many children waiting barefoot for a bowl of warm soup.

IHH Syria Office Press Officer Burak Karacaoglu explained that during the cold winter, IHH was doing all it can to meet the food needs of the Syrian refugees.

Starting with the Reyhanli province, there are more than 120,000 Syrians living in different camps and soup from the IHH kitchen was distributed regularly every day. Karacaoglu continued saying, “We are continuing our Syria operations on a daily basis. We are trying to protect them from the cold, with those near the Turkish border numbering 120,000 we have been able to distribute hot soup. As IHH we are happy to provide our Syrian brothers in the Atme camp and this gives us much joy. The catering of this will continue for the next few months, especially considering the cold winter days where they will be able to have some warm food”

The children living in the Atme camp have shown great excitement and appreciation to IHH because of this distribution. With the makeshift tents, the snow and mud has made it even more difficult, especially with children waiting in line barefoot, makes it even more heartbreaking. Despite this, you cannot hide the smile of the children’s face as they make their way to their tents.
