Gaza convoy heading for Syria’s Latakia port
Viva Palestina convoy is on its way from Jordan back to Syria, from where it will go to Egypt by sea. It will cross into Egypt through el-Arish port and head for Gaza overland.
Europe, MiddleEast, Turkey 30.12.2009

As agreed with the Egyptian government the convoy will enter Egypt through Arish port on the Mediterranean coast rather than through Red Sea. Therefore, the convoy left Jordanian city of Aqaba to head for the Syrian port city of Latakia.

The activists along the convoy spent the night in the Syrian capital Damascus and set off for Latakia, 500 km from Damascus, early on 30 December. Here the convoy will be shipped to Arish and from there it is 35 km overland to Rafah border crossing.

The convoy that will be entering Gaza another four days later than planned due to Egypt’s uncompromising attitude will have to deliver relief materials to Gaza and leave the region by 6 January.
