IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation greeted 2,520 people who arrived in 61 buses from Madaya and Zabadani under the agreement between the opposition forces and the Assad regime with emergency aid packages.

Some of the families were initially placed in temporary shelters established by the IHH in the center of Idlib.

IHH waits for two days at the Meeting Point

IHH Syrian Humanitarian Aid Coordinator, Erhan Yemelek, stated that they have been continuing their humanitarian aid efforts in Syria since the beginning of the conflict. Adding that they had immediately come to the rescue of the people evacuated from the cities of Madaya and Zabadani, he continued: “We greeted families from Madaya and Zabadani in Idlib. IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation closely monitored the entire hostage exchange agreement process. Our teams waited for two days to meet the new arrivals from Madaya and Zabadani in the Rashidin region at Aleppo’s ground zero.”

Referring to the temporary derailment of the agreement due to disagreement between the parties and a discharged car bomb, he added: “The exchange process was thankfully resumed with the renewed negotiations in the hours following the explosion. We picked up families arriving from Madaya and Zabadani in the Rashidin region at Aleppo’s ground zero. Apart from the Idlib center camp we set up for families, we distributed a variety of essential supplies such as food packages, blankets, drinking water.”

IHH has been in Syria for years now

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has been continuing its humanitarian aid efforts and humanitarian diplomacy activities in Syria since the beginning of the conflict. Part of this has included meeting 1,354 people evacuated from the city of Homs at the border.
