The Mavi Marmara ship, set out to break the inhuman blockade of Gaza and has become a symbol of the human conscience, is now preparing to sail to new ports.

In order to describe the mission undertaken by the Mavi Marmara and develop awareness about the difficulties experienced in oppressed geographies, IHH has teamed up with Samsun's Canik Municipality. The ship will first set out to Samsun then move on to Gallipoli in order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli war.

The Mavi Marmara ship will set out from Istanbul on Thursday the 5th of March and will reach Samsun on the 7th of March. The Mavi Marmara will hold an exhibition displaying the difficulties the oppressed geographies face. In Samsun, the exhibition will be open to visitors for 10 days.

The Mavi Marmara in Gallipoli on the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli war

After being open to the public for 10 days in Samsun, the ship will depart from the Samsunport on March 17th with its passengers. It will then sail out to Gallipoli in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli war.

The Gallipoli war represents the struggle of existence of a nation. University and secondary school students, academics, NGO representatives and foreign students who came to Samsun from different geographies will be on the ship.

During the voyage, there will be a photo exhibition, a documentary screening and a panel. In the project that the Samsun Canik Municiplitary has taken on, not only will the youth will be able to explore the spirit of the Gallipoli war. But will be also discuss the Mavi Marmara and the difficulties faced in oppressed geographies.
