Medical examinations offered in Tunisia
IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation and Association of International Doctors (AID) offered medical examinations to the people in northern Tunisia.
Africa, Tunisia 06.04.2012

Members from the IHH and AID offered medical examinations to people in northern Tunisia, treated many and delivered free medication to people who are in need.

Tunisia is the country where the ongoing public revolts in the Middle East and North Africa started first.

Public demonstrations in the country which sparked when a jobless young man set himself on fire quickly spread to other countries in the region. Tunisian leader Zine El Abidine Ben Ali  had to flee his country due to the public revolts, which marked the beginning of a new era in  the country.

IHH has provided all kind of emergency aid to the country during the transformation process and later on. IHH’s relief efforts in the region still continue.

IHH teams lastly carried out relief efforts in Baca, Jendouba, Kasra and Siliana regions in northern Tunisia. There have recently been landslides and floods in these regions, which have a total  population of around 1.8 million, due to melting snow after a harsh winter and heavy rains. People have many difficulties in the region including access to clean water due to the poor infrastructure in the country.

Carrying out relief efforts in regions which face the risk of epidemic outbreaks, IHH and AID offered medical examinations to people in these regions. Many people with various health problems were treated while free medication was delivered to people in need.
