The bodies of IHH volunteer Bahattin Yıldız, also a member of the Human and Civilization Movement, and IHH Asia Representative Faruk Aktaş, who died in a plane crash in Afghanistan on 17 May 2010, were brought to Turkey three months after the crash.
Family members of the victims and IHH officials were present at the airport to receive the bodies that were brought in an Afghan Airline aircraft. Yıldız’s children Enes, Mustafa, and Sümeyre Yıldız, Aktaş’s wife, his elder brothers Cengiz, Yusuf, and Cahit Aktaş and his elder sisters Fatma, Ferizede, Emine, and Pakize Aktaş wept as the bodies were debarked from the plane.
The bodies were later taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute.

Funeral prayers will be performed for Yıldız and Aktaş on 28 July at Fatih Mosques and they will be put to rest at Edirnekapı Cemetery.
Yıldız and Aktaş were in Afghanistan for an orphanage project. On the way back from Kunduz Province to the capital Kabul their plane crashed in the Salang Pass on 17 May 2010. Heavy show fall and fog made it impossible to reach the crash site for four days. It took days to identify the victims since the plane was totally destroyed. After the bodies were identified with DNA tests, they were delivered to the families.
