Syria 17.04.2017

The conflict in Syria enters its sixth year. Civilians have taken the brunt of the violence and destitution that comes with war. According to official figures, more than 400,000 people have lost their lives. One and a half million people living in more than 20 regions of the country do not have access to anything in the way of aid supplies. Children, women and the elderly in particular are trying to continue their lives facing the risk of starvation and death.

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, which has been extending a helping hand to the beleaguered people of Syria since the war began, remains committed to standing by Syrians in their hour of need. As part of this, IHH dispatched 1,518 truckloads of aid supplies to Syria in the first three months of 2017.

“We are healing the wounds of war”

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation Syrian Humanitarian Aid Office’s Hatay Office Press Adviser, Selim Tosun, said that IHH has been there for Syrian families from the very beginning.

Stating that all kinds of aid, especially food supplies, have been continuously supplied to civilians moving away from conflict areas to safer regions, Tosun said: “We and other organizations from around the globe are spearheading the effort to bring relief to Syria’s suffering victims of war. There are settlement camps inside Syria set up by IHH where orphans and civilians fleeing the war find refuge.”

Adding that aid supplies arriving at IHH logistics center in Reyhanlı are immediately dispatched to Syria without losing time, Tosun went on to say that in the first three months of the year IHH sent 1,518 truckloads of food packages containing bread, flour and breakfast foods to the cities of Hama, Homs, the rural parts of Aleppo and Idlib.

Pointing out that they had so far dispatched 12,754 truckloads of aid supplies to Syria, Tosun finished his words by reassuring the people of Syria that IHH remained as firmly committed as ever to their well-being and safety.
