Turkey carries hope to Central Africa
With a joint project involving IHH as well as AFAD and the Humanitarian Platform, a shipment of aid has reached the refugees of Chad and Cameroon after the recent events in the Central African Republic.

As a result of the aid effort, the Turkish Embassy has signed a new protocol in conjuction with the Chad Health and Social Services Department.
 
Together with IHH, the Ministers Office for Natural Disaster and Emergency have sent first aid to the refugees of Chad and Cameroon after the recent turn of events. As a result of the aid effort, the Turkish Embassy has signed a new protocol in conjuction with the Chad Health and Social Services Department. At the meeting that was held at the Chad Health and Social Services Department, the Services Minister Dr. N'Gariera Rimadjita, Turkish Ambassador to Chad Ahmet Kavas and the Humanitarian Platform represenatives were in attendance.
 
 
Crucial Aid
 
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Rimadjija, who explained that he had travelled with a team to Sarh refugee camp, said “The situation at the camp is not very good. The Chad Government is doing the best it can but the camp has spread to 120 hectares, houses 12,000 peple and 3,500 of these are children. In the Sarh camp, the refugees are in need of a school, hospital and a mosque. For this reason, the aid coming in from Turkey is very important”.
 
Aid Distributed in Gaui Camp
 
After the meeting, the aid was loaded onto the trucks and sent to the capital of N'Djame, which is twelve kilomateres away.  Twenty organisations including AFAD, United Islamic Humanitarian Organisation (IDSB), IHH, Doctors Worldwide, Lifewater Foundation, Besir Foundation, the Government Ministry Office, Goodwill Foundation, Lighthouse Foundation, Aid Doctors all contributed to the aid that was distributed in the camps.
 
 
55 Tonnes of Aid has been sent
 
Since the civil turmoil began in March, Central African Republic has come face to face with Muslims in hunger, poverty, and health problems. As a result of the attacks, Cameroon, Chad, with the Congo Republic at the head, have reached out to nearly two million Muslims with a campaign called “Humanitarian Platform Aiding Central Africa”.
 
Baby food and Medicine
 
Turkey has helped  mainly with medicine, food and housing issues. The AFAD coordinating the NGO's has sent 55 tonnes of aid. IHH, has sent through air delivery, 5,500 blankets and 10,000 units of medical first aid. Sent amongst the first aid, there are also basics such as baby nappies, baby food, medicine and tents. Aid delivered at the airport have received the shipment and will be delivering this aid in the earliest time possible.
 
 
IHH aid began months earlier
 
An aid campaign had begun months earlier by IHH in response to the Muslims who had fled the Central African Republic. Within this campaign, food and hygiene packets were distributed firstly to the Gore and Dobe camps of Chad. The next aid delivery was realised at the Garaboley district camp of Cameroon. 
 
IHH teams distributed rice, pasta, sugar, salt, oil, tomato paste, hygiene packs and clothing bringing the total aid amount to 60 tonnes. 14,000 people were assisted in the first stage of this campaign.
