World’s largest container city established in Kilis
Officials from IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation and President of International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) and also chief adviser to Kuwaiti emir, Dr. Abdullah Al Matooq have paid a visit the container city established in the Elbeyli district of Kilis.

Matooq and IHH officials visited the container city which was established for Syrian refugees.

IICO president and former Kuwaiti Justice Minister Matooq, Coordinator Governor Veysel Dalmaz, IHH deputy chairman Hüseyin Oruç, IHH executive board member Murat Kavakdan, Syrian Studies Coordinator Muhammed Yorgancıoğlu and Kilis desk official ErhanYemelek took part in the visit to the container city where around 5,000 Syrian refugees stay.

Speaking at the news conference held ahead of the visit, Dalmaz said: “As Muslims, we feel pain when our Muslim sisters and brothers have the slightest problem. We will continue to provide humanitarian relief to our Syrian guests.”

Matooq who also spoke at the news conference said they plan to establish container cities for the refugees also in Jordan, adding that they will continue to do their best to help the oppressed people of Syria.

The container city in Elbeyli which was established through the joint efforts of IHH, the Turkish Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) and Kuwait-based IICO, is the largest container city in the world. There are 3,500 houses in the container city in addition to four schools, two mosques, one healthcare center and parks for children. Around 5,000 Syrians live in the city.
