During our Ramadan food distribution in Herat, Afghanistan, I met 45-year-old Muhammad. Because of a problem with his leg, he was sitting to the side, waiting quietly.

“I was born with a hearing disability, and my legs have been affected since I was 13. I have four children, and all of them go to school.

Sometimes I sell figs on the street, but I do not earn much. We get by with help from our neighbors and sometimes with support from you.

This Ramadan, hot meals will be cooked in our home too. That makes me very happy. Thank you for thinking of us and coming all the way here.”
