Balkans, BosniaandHerzegovina, MiddleEast, Syria, Turkey 18.02.2013

Relief associations in Bosnia-Herzegovina came together to extend a helping hand to the conflict-stricken people of Syria. Aid items which were collected through months-long efforts in the country have been sent to Syria with trucks.

The trucks, carrying aid items at a value of 60,000 euros, entered Turkey on Saturday. The aid campaign in Bosnia-Herzegovina was launched by Solidarnost Association and supported by six other relief organizations.

The trucks, which will travel to Syria from Antakya in southern Turkey, carry food, clothing, shoes, hygiene kits, heaters, baby packages and blankets for Syrians. These items will be taken to inner parts of Syria by IHH.

Officials from Bosnian civil society organizations who came to Turkey to accompany the delivery of aid items and make examinations in the region have noted that they will continue aid efforts for Syria.

During their visit to IHH head office ,Solidarnost Association President Zemira Gorinjac said that they very well know what war means, hence they understand Syrian people very well.
Gorinjac said Bosnia-Herzegovina is not the country of 20 years ago today and Bosnians carry out relief efforts for the oppressed people in many parts of the world.

Gorinjac also noted that they launched the aid campaign for Syria on Dec.7, 2012, the trucks carrying the aid items set out from Bihaç and around 40 tons of aid items will be sent to Hatay with two trucks.

In addition, Gorinjac said 25,000 euros of cash money, which was collected, will be delivered in the region with other relief items by IHH.
