IHH keeps being a silver lining with its permanent endowment projects in addition to its humanitarian relief activities all around the world. In this respect, IHH is building orphanages in suffering countries for children who have no access to shelter and education. Yalova Girls’ Orphanage, which has come into use in Kofele region of Ethiopia, is one of them.
This orphanage that led by IHH’s Yalova branch will be twelve-bedroom, host 100 students and service within the Kofele Orphanage Education Complex. Students will receive their education at Barbaros Orphanage Education Center which built by IHH in that complex before. Students will be supported every year for their stationery and dress needs with the help of donors. Moreover, orphans are going to get financial aid, until they will turn 18 years-old, under the System of Orphan Sponsorship.
That orphanage, which aims to support female orphans’ education in the countryside, was commenced to build in 2014.
“Female Orphans are the Most Disadvantaged Group”
Dr. Sabri Kan — the Head of IHH’s Yalova Branch, says that various organizations and individuals all around Turkey gave financial support to build the orphanage, and also notes that due to security problems in the region, this orphanage has been a must. “Girls are the disadvantaged group in respect to educational opportunities, but orphan ones are more disadvantaged. Going to distant provinces and receiving the education are quite difficult for girls here. Our target is providing a better education service to them.” Dr. Kan says.
