IHH Emergency Aid Coordinator Recep Güzel and his team visited the Arakanese refugees who took refuge in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar and provided financial assistance to them. The IHH team also launched efforts to improve the circumstances in the camps where refugees stay.
Meeting with families one by one who migrated from Arakan and making a list of their needs, Güzel said: “Several days ago, we met with two women who fled Arakan and took refuge in Bangladesh. One of the women, whose husbands were killed, is a mother while the other one is her daughter with two children. While telling their story, the grandmother did not leave the hands of her two grandchildren even for a moment. They are very fearful and desperate. There are thousands of such people among Arakanese refugees. They try to live in an area of four-square-meter each and are deprived of all their needs. They have nothing to help them continue living. We have been mobilized here to meet their needs. In addition providing them with food and accommodation, we also support them financially. We will continue to help these people, who have just arrived in Bangladesh and have nothing, and we will diversify the types of our relief efforts.”
