The meeting, which was chaired by OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Atta El-Mannan Bakhit, was hosted by Qatari Red Crescent. In addition to IHH, representatives from non-governmental organizations from Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and the UK attended the meeting.

Issues such as ICHAD’s institutional structure, its role in humanitarian and political affairs in crisis-hit regions and steps which should be taken to strengthen ICHAD were discussed at the meeting. Speaking on behalf of the IHH, Oruç shared the foundation’s experience in relief efforts with the participants of the meeting and brought forward proposals for the humanitarian relief activities.

Acting on the effective role ICHAD assumed in the drought crisis in Somalia, participants of the meeting decided to meet again in near future to discuss ways to develop new strategies for ICHAD, increase ICHAD’s relief network and the number of participant institutions.
