IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, which swiftly launched emergency aid efforts in the city of Van after it was hit by an earthquake on 23 October 2011, is carrying on with relief activities in the city.
This week the foundation, in cooperation with Islamic Relief from Britain, distributed food supplies to 475 families living in central Van and in the district of Erciş.
The aid reached 2,478 people, mostly women who were widowed and children who were orphaned by the earthquake.
The food packages delivered to the families contained supplies of cooking oil, powder sugar, tea, tomato paste, jam, olives, dried beans, rice, chickpeas, macaroni, and chocolate.
IHH delivers monthly regular assistance to the families affected by earthquake in central Van and Erciş.
