An international initiative to open up an aid corridor to embargo-stricken Gaza by the sea is underway. Gaza convoy, defined as the common voice of humanity, is expecting donations from the beneficent in order to add new ships to the flotilla campaign which has so far purchased two ships ready to sail on.

Aid work in various cities of the Anatolian peninsula is carried on in its full course. Volunteers in Izmir could not remain silent to the cries of the people of Palestine. A meeting for Gaza was held in Buca theater and a food fair was held in Kemeralti Basdurak Exhibition Hall.

The meeting in Buca was host to Ali Cihangir, a member of the Administrative Board of IHH, Abdurrahman Dilipak, a well-known researcher-journalist and Omer Karaoglu, a famous musician.

Rasim Calar, President of Izmir Humanitarian Aid Association (IZYAD), said that people of Izmir could not possibly remain indifferent to the pain and suffering that the people of Palestine have been going through, calling all Izmir to give their support to the campaign.

Abdurrahman Dilipak said that every step taken towards the Palestinian cause is very meaningful. “We need to show Israel that Palestinians are not alone in their cause. It is possible for us to stop Israel’s actions.”

Omer Karaoglu, a popular Islamic music performer also enlivened the event with his melodies.
