Orphans Day of Islamic World
From now on the 15th day of Ramadan will be celebrated as the Orphans Day in the Islamic World.

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation and Department of Humanitarian Affairs of Organization of Islamic Cooperation organized the 5th International Civil Society Organizations of the Islamic World Conference with the theme of ¨Rising Role of Civil Society Organizations in the Islamic World¨ in December 2013.

In the conference that senior representatives of various civil society institutions from Islam world participated, the president of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, Bülent Yıldırım made a speech related to the problems of the Orphans in the world and mentioned that as IHH they wanted to declare the day of when Bosnian war started as the World Orphans Day.

IHH had began to negotiate about this demand 6 months before the conference and this demand was settled in the 4th Council Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs organized by Organization of Islamic Cooperation on 9th -11st December, 2013 in Geneva. According to the decision, from now on, the 15th day of Ramadan will be celebrated as the Orphans day in the Islamic World. In the declaration which was sent to all civil society institutions which are members of Organization of Islamic Cooperation, it was advised that the determined day to be put on the agenda by all civil society institutions, that the affairs towards orphans to be increased on this day and that activating affairs for the world public about the orphans reality to be done
