IHH Humanitarian Relief Organization reaches out to the refugees who fled their homes following the massacres in Republic of Central Africa in 2013 and try to survive in refugee camps located along the border with Chad and Cameroon

In this regard, IHH Humanitarian Relief Organization in collaboration with Ummah Welfare Trust carried out a food aid campaign for Central African refugees in Danamadja and Komitoye refugee camps in the city of Gore in Chad. 130 tons of food hampers that contain rice, flour, pasta, sugar and oil were delivered to 6500 families (15.000 persons).

Refugees’ Needs Identified

During the aid campaign IHH teams visited mayors and officials of the region and provinces where the camps are located in order to receive brief about the situation of the refugees and their needs.

Regarding the refugees camps in Gore, IHH representative Ahmet Göksun who arrived in the region to organize the aid campaign said “Currently about 15.000 refugees are living in Danamadja ve Kobitoye refugees camps. UN delivers food aid to the camps only once a month which is quite insufficient. Therefore camps residents and officials were so pleased to see us. According to our assessments most urgent needs of the refugees in the camps are food, medications, well, and clothes.”

IHH Humanitarian Relief Organization will keep delivering aid to Central African refugees living in Chad, Cameroon and other countries in the following days.

IHH reaches 70.000 People

Since 2013 IHH has delivered 950.000 tons of food aid and clothes for 10.000 people to Central African refugees. Around 70.000 refugees benefited from the campaign including Ramadan and Eid al-Adha campaigns. The aid campaigns contain medical aid as well.
