Children separated by war reunite with their families
Thanks to IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation’s humanitarian diplomacy efforts, Hind Yusuf (7), who had been living in IHH’s orphanage in Jarabulus, Syria, has been reunited with her family.
Syria 25.01.2024

Children who were separated from their families due to the long-lasting internal war in Syria are finally reuniting with their families.

Hind Yusuf, who had been staying at IHH's orphanage in Jarabulus for approximately 2 years, was reunited with her relatives thanks to the joint efforts by Turkish and Australian authorities.

I hope the suffering of Palestinian children also comes to an end

Mehmet Altıntaş from the IHH Humanitarian Diplomacy Unit, who stated that IHH carries out work in various fields said, "This is one of our efforts, which is family reunification. That's why we are experiencing an exciting day today. Our sister Hind is reuniting with her grandparents. However, despite the sensitivity of the United Nations regarding children, these children are either dying or becoming orphaned in many different parts of the world. Today, Palestinian children are at the forefront of these cases. Hopefully, all of humanity will put an end to the suffering of Palestinian children as soon as possible."

Altıntaş thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia, and the Turkish Directorate General of Migration Management, as well as all the local NGOs involved in Hind's reunion with her family.

The safest place for children is by their family's side

IHH Orphanage supervisor Rim Al Sabah said, "Hind was very frightened when she first arrived. She was withdrawn and was even afraid of cars. Thankfully, our teachers and psychologists have been closely involved with her for the past 2 years. She has achieved great harmony with her friends. We are sad to see her leave, but at the same time, we are happy because she is reuniting with her family. The safest and happiest place for children is their own home and by their family's side."

As Hind bid farewell to her friends, she gave the toys her grandfather had sent from Australia as gifts to her friends.
