The 8th meeting of the Afghanistan Future Thought Forum is being held in Istanbul
The 8th session meeting of the Afghanistan Future Thought Forum is taking place in Istanbul. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IHH are hosting the three-day forum.

Representatives from various fields, including the Afghan government, international civil society, academia, and former government officials are participating in the event. The Forum, which will last for three days, discusses various issues in Afghanistan, including development, employment, and offers solutions.

The first day of the forum was participated by former Ambassador for Afghanistan Oğuzhan Ertuğrul, Director-General for South Asia at the Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fatima Gailani, President of the Afghanistan Future Thought Forum Professor Sultan Barakat from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, former UN Special Representative for Afghanistan Feridun Sinirlioğlu, IHH President Av. Bülent Yıldırım, IHH’s member of the Board of Directors responsible for Humanitarian Diplomacy Abdullah Altay, and many other participants.

Call for consultation on problems

Bülent Yıldırım emphasized the importance of resolving problems through consultation based on justice and fairness in his speech. Yıldırım stated, "In this way, we can identify our minimum common denominators and have the opportunity to act with a common mind. Otherwise, we would waste the energy that we could have used to devote ourselves to the development of our country, the education of our youth, and the welfare of our people to compete with each other, which would weaken us."

"Don't isolate Afghanistan"

Yıldırım called on states, the United Nations, and international institutions, saying, "Do not isolate Afghanistan. Do not impose economic, political, or diplomatic embargoes. Support this people who have been exhausted by wars for 40 years. Remove the obstacles of emergency humanitarian aid and development projects."

The first-day program of the forum concluded after speeches made by the participants.
