Turkey 25.03.2011

Official procedural work necessary to evacuate around 50 injured people in Benghazi has been launched and Turkey is holding talks with Libya and Egypt. State institutions in Turkey, Egypt and Libya give support to the evacuation of the injured in Libya.

Since the injured to be evacuated from Libya are in critical condition, they need to be evacuated under the supervision of doctors. So, support from volunteer doctors is needed.

IHH deputy chairman Yaşar Kutluay said: “The injured people in Libya have been waiting for treatment for days. The heavily injured people cannot be treated at the hospitals in the country. There is shortage of medical supplies and medicine. These people need to be treated as soon as possible. All of them need surgeries. The patients who have cuts in some parts of their bodies need orthopedic equipments. We are waiting for the support of voluntary doctors who will help evacuation of these patients.”
