Pakistan waits for aid on World Humanitarian Day
We urge the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the devastating flooding in Pakistan and all charitable people to extend support on the 19 August World Humanitarian Day.
Pakistan, Turkey 19.08.2010

19 August has been declared as the World Humanitarian Day by the United Nations. On this day the attention of the world public is drawn to ongoing humanitarian activities in crisis regions and the significance of international cooperation to tackle humanitarian crises.

The speed and effectiveness of delivering aid to crisis- and disaster-hit regions have improved significantly in the last two decades compared to earlier decades. Although significant steps have been taken in utilizing international mechanisms and organizing civilian initiatives in humanitarian aid field, creation of principled and effective solutions for millions of people who are striving to survive in various parts of the world is still of great importance.

We as the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation urge the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the devastating flooding in Pakistan. The floods have reached such a devastating level that no country or community can tackle them on their own.

Governments and international public should extend a hand of friendship to the Pakistani people. Let’s come together to ease the suffering of 30 million Pakistanis who are at the risk of starvation, epidemics and lack of water.
