Even diarrhea is fatal disease in Yemen

IHH Media Vice President Serkan Nergis was in the region with the last IHH team to perform Immediate Aid efforts, and asserted that "when I went to Yemen, there was a dead country." He underlined that the biggest problem is inadequate and unhealthy nutrition and added:

"The majority of the country is still under siege. Hospitals are also insufficient since medicals cannot reach to the regions. The conditions of hospitals, especially children, are very bad. Most of the health centers are full of children. Malik, who was 4 months old and at 2,700 gram weight seemed to summarize the whole situation. The conditions of hospitals was same on the streets of Aden. We met a child who got exhausted when distributing aid among the neighborhoods. Doctors said that he could die if he had diarrhea which was common in the region. Even diarrhea is fatal disease in Yemen.

We encountered a lot of things when distributing in camps. The thing I was most impressed with was a tiny tent that I noticed when I was passing by. I was shocked when I learned that there were 8 people living in the tent. The family ran away from the clashes 3 years ago and settled into a camp. When there was a conflict too, they came to Taiz. They have been struggling for life in this tent for one year.”
