4.5 Million People Affected by Devastating Flood in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh approximately 4.5 million people have been affected by severe flooding caused by intense monsoon rains and the opening of dam gates in India. With hundreds of people being reported missing and at least 15 confirmed dead, IHH swiftly initiated its emergency relief efforts. As the first phase of the aid project, we distributed hot meals, dry food, and emergency aid supplies to 1,000 families.

Heavy rainfall in northeastern India and eastern Bangladesh has led to widespread flooding. The Bangladesh Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has reported that about 4.5 million people are affected by the floods in the eastern part of the country. The flood has impacted areas including Feni, Comilla, Hasan, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Khagrachhari, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, and Cox's Bazaar, where nearly one million Rohingya refugees reside. Many regions have been submerged, leaving hundreds stranded and dozens missing. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the affected areas.
