Medications, medical equipment, foodstuffs, textile products, tents, blankets, cleaning materials, and kitchenware to be raised with donations will be sent to Pakistan with Gaza-named cargo ship, owned by the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.
The Gaza ship that came under the bloody Israeli raid while carrying humanitarian aid to Palestine together with the Mavi Marmara boat will be carrying 3,000 tons of emergency relief supplies to the Pakistani people, who are suffering from massive floods.
A team of 50 technicians are working to repair and maintain the ship docked at İskenderun Port so it is ready for the shipment.
Speaking about the new campaign, IHH President Bülent Yıldırım stressed generosity of the Turkish people and said more than one trailer of aid could be collected from every province.
Yılırım recalled the foundation had already sent aid to Pakistan with train and aircraft and said: “The ship has a capacity of 3,000 tons. Anybody can send something to Pakistan. We received a substantial amount of supplies from various companies and sent those in a train and cargo aircraft. We hope donations will continue in increased numbers. More aid is needed to alleviate the suffering of flood victims.”
Foundation for permanent houses laid
Speaking about ongoing aid works in Pakistan, Yıldırım said permanent houses were being constructed for the people who lost their houses to the floods. Moreover, 801 victims have been given 750,000 Turkish liras cash aid, he added.
