The never ending wars and civil conflicts destroyed Afghanistan’s educational infrastructure as well. Literacy rates are way below the international standards and thousands of bright young people cannot receive education because of poverty.
IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation provides support for young people who wish to continue tertiary schools by opening up science and mathematics tutoring classes in Afghanistan, education system of which has been seriously damaged by the economic and political instability.
Since January 2010, 7793 students have attended the tutoring centers opened up in Nengerhar and Takhar regions of Afghanistan. The students have received science tutoring in various fields such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, geometry, English and computer sciences.
The campaign aims at supporting high school students who plan to sit for university entrance exams. The classes have been serving the community for only 6 months and they are already a success. University admission rates have reached up to 70% in Nengerhar and Takhar regions where the tutoring centers operate in.
Those families who cannot provide science tutoring for their children due to financial reasons have sent their regards and thanks to the aid volunteers and donors who helped realize the educational aid project.
