City of Bartin is home to a charity event organized to support IHH’s “Palestine Our Route, Humanitarian Aid Our Load” campaign, which aims to break the embargo on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the 1.500.000 people in Palestine. The event is held on Sadirvan Street, next to Mekec Shoes, the income from the fair will be transferred to Gaza. In the opening ceremony, Mucahit Mekec, speaking on behalf of the IHH volunteers in Bartin, said that it is a great step taken in order to open up an aid corridor to Gaza through the sea, where people have been living under the Israeli embargo for more than 3 years. Mekec also mentioned that beneficent people on those 7 ships of the flotilla will arrive in Gaza in May, carrying 5000 tons of humanitarian aid.
Mekec said “People from all over the world have volunteered in this campaign with solidarity to make it successful. IHH, as the coordinator of this aid campaign, is working with care in legal, humanitarian, technical and political terms to ensure the safe arrival of the ships at their destination.” He also invited all people of Bartin to the charity event for Palestine.
