Zhang Zhiliang, General Consul of the People’s Republic of China in Istanbul, and Consul He Jiangchuan visited the head office of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation in Fatih District. They met IHH President Bülent Yıldırım and were informed about activities of the foundation.

The Chinese officials discussed the East Turkistani question during the visit. Yıldırım expressed foundation’s concerns regarding the Uyghur question and said “We are closely watching developments in East Turkistan. The problem should be discussed at relevant platforms and a solution should be sought. We want to pay a visit to East Turkistan together with a number of human rights organizations to accurately report developments taking place there to the international public opinion. We hope the Chinese government would facilitate such a visit.”

The general consul carefully listened to Yıldırım’s concerns regarding East Turkistan.

Zhiliang asserted no massacre took place in the region as it had been claimed. He also invited Yıldırım to East Turkistan. Regarding IHH’s intention to set up an office in the region, Zhiliang noted the IHH should make an official application; the Chinese government would then asses the application.
