The earthquakes, which occurred near the Sagaing region in central Myanmar, caused significant destruction in the country. Nearly 1,700 people lost their lives, while around 3,500 others were injured. Additionally, it was reported that 17 people lost their lives in Thailand, where the tremors were also felt.
Upon finding out about the earthquakes, IHH sprang into action with emergency relief efforts. As the first phase of our efforts, 800 people in Thailand received hot meals. The distribution of hot meals is expected to continue in the coming days.
Emergency Aid Efforts Also Begin in Mandalay
In Myanmar's second-largest city Mandalay, where the earthquake was most strongly felt, IHH also launched emergency relief activities, distributing dry food and water to those affected by the disaster.
Humanitarian relief efforts continue in both countries. Donors wishing to support these emergency aid efforts can contribute via IHH's website.
