Barbaras Education Center, an education complex built by IHH with the generous support of acclaimed writer Iskender Pala opened following a lovely ceremony.

IHH teams, who visited 93 countries and territories across the world during the Eid al-Adha, did not miss out Ethiopian orphans.

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation team who visited Ethiopia in conjunction with 2014 Eid al-Adha aid campaign facilitated the opening ceremony of Barbaros Education Center built for orphan children and their mothers in Kofale in the south eastern Ethiopian countryside.

Local dignitaries, Turkish educators, NGO members, journalist Merve Şebnem Oruç and Iskender Pala who donated the proceeds of his book “A Legendary Barbarossa Novel” and his family attended the opening ceremony of the education center.

FIRST CLASS By ISKENDER PALA

In his speech, the acclaimed writer Iskender Pala pointed out the significance of taking care of the orphans. Noting that the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) was also an orphan raised by the grace of God, he said: “God is the guardianof all the orphans in the world.”

Mr. Pala said that he would like to see the children getting education at the center as adults one day. “I hope people who are going to develop Ethiopia would come out of this school”

Mr. Pala thanked IHH for its efforts to improve the region and said that he believed the center will improve further at good hands of the local authorities. In his speech, the mayor of KofaleDestaBukulu said that the Barbarossa Education Center purpose built for orphan children and their mothers offers a hope to the region. The Mayor Bukulu compared the project to establishing Europe in the middle of an impoverished region. The center will help improve the region to a great extent, he believes. The mayor also thanked IHH and its partner organization CDA for realizing the project in a very short time for the benefit of orphan children and their families.

1,500 STUDENT CAPACITY

The Barbarossa Education Center built for the purpose of giving professional education to the orphan children and their mothers has 1500-student capacity, an auditoriu, a computer lab, a guest room and admin office. It is planned to expand the center with more classrooms to be built.

STATIONARY AID TO 200 CHILDREN

Following the opening ceremony held in the auditorium of the center, various presents were distributed to the children. IHH team gave away balloons, candies, stationary kits and pocket money to 200 children.

Bülent Yıldırım, the President of the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), inspected two purchased ships for the International Freedom Flotilla. Yıldırım stated, "This cargo ship has a capacity of 5,500 tons and its name is Anadolu. It will carry our country's aid and compassion to Gaza. The name of other ship is Vicdan (Conscience). This ship will accommodate conscientious activists from around the world and deliver the conscience of the world to the shores of Gaza."
