Four trucks carrying humanitarian aid for civilians affected by the Israeli and US attacks in Iran have set off. Two of these departed following a send-off ceremony at the IHH Emre Yerli Disaster Management and Logistics Centre in Tuzla. The other two set off from Mersin. The trucks sent from Tuzla contain clothing items such as shoes, coats, trousers, shirts and T-shirts for women and children. The trucks departing from Mersin are carrying blankets. A truckload of medicines and medical supplies will be dispatched to the region in the coming days. IHH plans to deliver a total of 50 truckloads of humanitarian aid supplies to the region. Those who attended the send-off ceremony in Tuzla included Mustafa Özbek, Deputy Chairman of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation; Hosein Shahmoradi, Acting Consul of Iran in Istanbul; Mustafa Demir, Member of the IHH Board of Directors; Mehmet Kesmen, Chairman of the IHH Istanbul Branch; and other IHH officials.

“We are here to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Iran.”

In his speech, Mustafa Özbek — the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation's Deputy Chairman, who took part in the programme — said: ‘We will do our best to deliver essential supplies to the oppressed people of Iran. Today, we are sending two trucks from Istanbul. We will also be sending two trucks from our logistics depot in Mersin. This week, we will also be sending off a truck loaded with medicines and medical supplies.

Continuing his speech, Özbek noted that Israel and the US have carried out inhumane attacks in the Middle East. He stated: “They have shed blood in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine for years. They have shed blood in Iraq and Yemen. Israel and America continue to attack our region. Through the protests and demonstrations that we have organised, we are showing that we stand by our brothers and sisters. God willing, we will deliver five trucks of humanitarian aid to our brothers and sisters in Tehran. In the coming period, our aim is to deliver a total of 50 trucks of aid supplies to Iran. We are counting on the support of our donors for this cause,” he stated.

Speaking at the event, Hossein Shahmoradi, the acting consul of Iran in Istanbul, said: 'We care about the brotherhood between Iran and Türkiye. The fact that Iran sent aid to Turkey following the earthquake that struck the country, and that Türkiye is now sending aid to Iran, is a sign of this brotherhood. We will continue to defend our country. The murderous Israeli regime is carrying out unlawful attacks on hospitals and schools. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this effort.”
