IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has delivered food aid to 1,000 Syrian refugee families in Jordan.

The organization has delivered food aid to 1,000 Syrian families living in Zaatari refugee camp and in Mafraq in the north.

IHH Middle East Coordinator Emre Kaya commented that this was only the beginning of their activities in Jordan. "In a couple of days we will deliver aid to thousands of Syrian families" he said.

Kaya noted that IHH is operating in 135 countries worldwide and since the onset of civil war the organization has sent 5 thousand aid-trucks to Syria.

In Jordan, overall there are 5 Syrian refugee camps in Zaatari, Azraq, BAE, Bahchah and Cyber City.

Zaatari is the biggest refugee camp that accommodates 80.623 Syrian refugees. UNHCR reports that 1 million and 300 thousand Syrian refugees took shelter in Jordan, which has a border running for 375 kilometres with Syria.
