Life almost stopped in Gaza after suffering constant attacks and blockade. Therefore, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has launched a new humanitarian aid campaign for Gaza.
Life almost stopped in Gaza as they have been under the Israeli blockade since 2007. After the attack’s carried out by Israel during Ramadan in Gaza, the city was completely destroyed. Since then, restoring the city has not been successful as aid promises made by international communities were not granted . Therefore, resulting in an even bigger humanitarian crisis.
Due to the blockade, the city is left with no electricity, water, medicane, food and fuel. The children are in need of clothes, diapers and baby food while families are in need of a shelter, blankets, a heater and cleaning supplies.
70 thousand Palestinian families can take refuge in schools
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated that due to serious deficiencies in cash assistance, they are unable to continue with household repairs and rental contributions in Gaza. Last year the aid promised at the summit in Cairo did not reach Gaza. Therefore, cash assistance was no longer provided. With no place to go, 60 to 70 thousand Palestinian families are expected to take refuge in schools in Gaza. Due to the attacks which occurred last summer, more than 96 thousand families had their homes destroyed or damaged.
"This is Gaza" campaign
Gaza has been devastated by the constant attacks and blockade. In order to overcome this, they are waiting for your help. IHH speeded up their humanitarian aid and development-oriented activities when they opened up an office in Gaza in 2009. Now they are starting a new campaign called “This is Gaza.”
