Providing new clothes to 3,000 orphans in Turkey, IHH put a smile on the faces of 8,950 orphans in countries such as Ethiopia, Malawi, Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, Lebanon, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Pakistan and Palestine by providing them with new clothes for the Eid. In addition, visiting the orphanages founded by IHH in Aceh, Moro, Pakistan and Bangladesh, our teams celebrated the Eid together with the orphans and made them happy with small gifts. Moreover, IHH teams made inspections at the ongoing constructions of the orphanages in Pattani, Malawi and Afghanistan.
Murat Yılmaz, head of the IHH’s orphan care department, who visited the contruction site of the orphanage in Malawi, shared his impressions from the area. “People lose their lives at a very young age in Malawi, which is one of the poorest countries in the world, due to AIDS and unhealthy living conditions. The children of these people make up a giant number of orphan population. An orphanage which is currently being constructed thanks to the self-sacrificing efforts of a group of students at Boğaziçi University will be opened in January. The orphanage, located in Blantyre, will provide accommodation to 40 orphans. In this way, the orphans will live in a warm environment and we will continue to support them thanks to the contributions of charity givers until they complete university education. We presented gifts, toys and some allowances to the orphans we visited on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha. In addition, we provided some financial support to the mothers of 216 orphans. The orphan families who were very pleased with these beautiful visits and the gifts sent to them from Anatolia sent their prayers and good wishes to Turkey.”
IHH continues to support children who were orphaned by wars, occupations or natural disasters. Offering a helping hand for the 22,392 orphans across the world so far, IHH establishes orphanages for the orphans and meets their expenses for accommodation and education.
