Palestine, Palestine-Gaza 22.07.2014

IHH's food and medicine aid to the Palestinians who are struggling for their lives under the Israeli attacks is increasingly continuing. IHH teams are going from door to door distributing food packages. IHH Gaza Representative provided information about the latest situation in the region.

The massacre Israel has launched against Gaza has entered its 15th day. Without considering women and children, Israel continues their continuous bombing on everyone. About 600 people were martyred in the attacks and of those who were murdered over 200 of them are women and children.

Many Palestinians are losing their nearest to them, and the one who does not, lose their homes. Despite the bombardment IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundations is trying to reach out to the needy Palestinians in every way. IHH teams go around from door to door to find people who need aid and deliver aid to them.

350 THOUSAND DOLLAR MEDICINE AND 250 THOUSAND DOLLAR FOOD AID

In the framework of the 2014 Ramadan work, IHH that has delivered aid to 7,000 families in Gaza has also distributed $350,000 worth of medicine and also $250,000 food and hot meals ever since the Israeli attacks have started.

IHH IS THE ONLY FOREIGN AID AGENCY THAT HAS AN OFFICE IN GAZA

Being the only foreign organization in Gaza, IHH's Gaza representative, summarized the information of the current situation in the region to our foundation as follows:

-Israel is throwing large missiles. These missiles are thrown randomly.

-A portion of Gaza is stuck in the dark. The power line that comes from Israel has been cut.

- With the electricity being cut, a combination of water and sewerage problems occurred. Water pumps that pump water from network wells do not work.

IF THE KEREM EBU SALIM DOORS DO NOT OPEN THEIR WILL BE A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

-Because the Kerem Ebu Salim border gate is closed fuel does not enter. This is why the fuel stock has run out. Israelis never give supplies for no more than one day. In the coming days Gaza can be stuck in the dark.

-Problems in the hospitals have also grown. Due to the shortage of fuel to run the generators, majority of the cases of the injured being surgeries need technical equipment and if the technical equipment that need fuel is not provided there is an expectation of a huge massacre of the Palestinians.

- Another threat that is waiting the people of Gaza is: food crisis. We are in the month Ramadan, and a large portion of the people are fasting. Because the shops are closed in the month of Ramadan people cannot buy anything. Only the hot meals and food packages domestic and foreign aid agencies have organized is being distributed to the public. I do not know how much of this is enough: because there is close million people that live here. We cannot keep up with all. Majority of them do their Sahur and Iftar with water and bread. We have constantly bought food packages from the merchant. We filled out depot. We are also trying to distribute them at the same time. But this will only last for a while. If the Kerem Ebu Salim doors remain closed the food packages will be finished.

DONATIONS HAVE DOUBLED

With the increasing number of killed and injured Palestinians due to Israel's attack on Gaza, the number of applicants to donate to IHH has doubled. In the month of Ramadan the number of donation receipts IHH was giving in a day was roughly 250, now, with the attacks on Gaza it has reached to a number of nearly 600 in a day.
