IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has been trying to reach out those in need regardless of their political affiliation since the violent events broke out in Libya.
IHH, which has been coordinating its relief operations in cooperation with grassroots and local NGOs in Libya, has sent out a team to the region to deliver food aid to 400 families in Sirte, which is liberated from DAESH.
'Great Love for Turkey'
IHH executive board member, Ahmet Sarıkurt highlighted that Turkey has a special place in the hearts of people in Libya. "Turkey is very popular in the region. We are trying our best to fulfill Libyan people’s demands and deserve their love. However due to the prolonged instability as a result of the intensive clashes between different factions the people’s needs grow daily. There is a huge need especially in healthcare. We try to deliver medicine to the health clinics,” he said.
Most of the medical equipment in the hospitals such as dialyzer, x-ray units, ICU is out of order due to lack of spare parts. Most of the items needed for surgeries are missing. On top of that the medicine deficiency for diabetic, high blood pressure, kidney, heart and cancer patients grows fast" he added.
The efforts have been put to establish national unity in Libya.
IHH also carries out humanitarian diplomatic efforts between different warring parties while trying to help establish an overall unity in the country.
