Turkey 05.04.2012

IHH teams which go to every corner of the country to visit orphans as part of the Orphan Solidarity Days also visited the orphans of the Bilge village. Along with officials from the Kayseri Humanitarian Aid Foundation, IHH officials visited the orphans in Bilge village who lost their family members in the 2009 massacre.

One of the projects carried out by the IHH on the occasion of the Orphan Solidarity Days aims to launch a sister-city project, hence strengthen ties of brotherhood between two cities through visits and exchange of views on the orphan relief activities. Provinces which joined this project chose a sister-city for them and visited the orphans there and listened to their problems.

Officials from the Kayseri Humanitarian Aid Foundation who have chosen Mardin as their sister province delivered clothes and shoes to 88 orphans in the Bilge village.

Receiving their gifts, orphans of the Bilge village had a tour to the historical places in Mardin. The tour was organized by Mardin Governor’s Office’s Social Aid Directorate. The orphans later had a lunch with IHH officials, volunteers and sponsor families.

Bridge of benevolence from Adana to Hatay

Visits were also paid to the orphans in Adana and Hatay provinces on the occasion of the Orphan Solidarity Days. Aid teams who travelled to Hatay from Adana were welcomed by a team from the Adana Humanitarian Relief Foundation (AYDAR), administrators from Nehir Foundation, aid volunteers and orphans from Hatay.

Aid volunteers, who brought the greetings of Adana to Hatay and presented gifts to the orphans, had fun with the orphans throughout the day. Poems and songs recited by the orphans for their guests made the aid volunteers very happy. Aid volunteers from Adana promised to become sponsor families for five orphans from Hatay at the end of their visit.

Konya met with the orphans of the ummah

Officials from the Konya Humanitarian Aid Foundation (AYDER) along with IHH officials visited the orphans in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Gaza in addition to the orphans in Van’s Tatvan district on the occasion of the Orphan Solidarity Days. Executive board members of the Konya AYDER and Karaman Humanitarian Aid Foundation, IHH volunteers and press members met with 250 orphans and their families in Tatvan.

The meeting took place on a ferry on Lake Van and began with Quran recitation. After speeches by officials, the program continued with singing of local melodies. The happiness of the children who have for time first time boarded a ferry in their lifetime was worth of seeing. Charity givers from Konya delivered clothes, shoes, toys, watches and similar other gifts to the orphans at the end of the program.
