Taiz province of Yemen has been besieged, stonked and under fire for a long time. Conflicts beginning in 2015 and spreading whole the region led people of Taiz to devoid of the basic needs. The blockade of Houthis known with their proximity to overthrown leader Ali Abdullah Saleh prevents delivering food and clean water into the city. The government of Yemen is unable to deliver aid to the city in consequence of collapsing of political power and public order.
Because most of the tradesmen are not able to open their shops, the foodstuffs on the market are nearly finished in the city. While the prices increasing, the foods are going on the black market. While the electricity is out of order in the province, 95 percent of the hospitals are not able to work people struggling with injuries and diseases.
The people of Taiz facing lots of hardship try to protect themselves from assaults launching ever so often. In addition to the harassment fires of occupants, suicide bombings happen in the city from time to time. The number of dead civilians reached 1,500, while the number of wounded people reached 15,000 as of October. 70 percent of people had to flee their homes from the city in which more than 3,200 houses collapsed.
The clean water in the city is completely depleted. While there is no access to water outside of the city because of the occupation, the people facing with attacks and poverty can use the water only after boiling.Most of the citizens struggling against many problems is in bad shape to attain healthy drinking water.
IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation taking the action to solve the healthy drinking water problem in the very urgent time for the people of Taiz realized the project of delivering clean water by our teams arrived to the region and our partners.
As part of the project,167 pieces of tanks containing ten thousand liters were placed into the distributing points in the city. 120,000 people used 1,670 kiloliters of drinking water which transported to the distributing points by vans.
