A group of representatives from leading Malaysian nongovernmental organizations and media companies came to Turkey as guests of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation for talks on the Syrian crisis.
The group that was first briefed at the IHH head office in Fatih on the latest developments in Syria later travelled to Hatay Province to observe the situation on the ground. IHH External Affairs Coordinator İzzet Şahin, who met the Malaysian group, presented the group with a copy of IHH report on Syria.
The crisis in Syria is too massive to be resolved by a several nongovernmental organizations, and all NOGs of the Islamic world should come together and cooperate on this issue, Şahin stated, expressing the willingness of IHH to cooperate with different NGOs.
Şahin warned against the deterioration of the situation ahead of the approaching extreme winter weather, and added it was a humane and conscientious responsibility to show the same kind of concern expressed for Gaza for Syria as well.
The group that came to Turkey to obtain healthy information regarding the crisis in Syria and visit the border areas included students, activists and representatives of leading Malaysian NGOs and media companies such as Islamic Innovation Foundation, Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM), Ikram, and Global Peace Mission.
